Visegrad Group states reconfirm support for Moldova to carry out European integration

Chisinau, 6 March /MOLDPRES/-Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu met deputy foreign ministers of Visegrad Group (Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary), also named V4, on 5 March. They discussed Moldova's European agenda, implementation of reforms and political evolutions in the country, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.

The speaker thanked for the support offered in Moldova's modernisation, assuring that the country would continue the European integration path.

"European integration is our chance to modernise and develop the country. Even if some reforms are painful for citizens, along the way, they will bring results and will contribute to increasing the people's living conditions", he noted.

Candu stressed that the authorities intended to qualitatively implement reform agenda to repproach Moldova with European Union. In this context, the speaker underlined the need to take over the good practices and expertise from the Visegrad Group, especially, in terms of implementation of EU acquis, provisions of Association Agreement and Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement.

"The EU should apply the more for more principle in the implementation of reforms by our country, namely, the financial support should be conditioned by the results of reforms' implementation", he said.

The deputy foreign ministers of the Visegrad Group welcomed the strong message conveyed by the Moldovan authorities on continuing reforms. The European officials said that the Visegrad Group would continue to back Moldova in carrying out European integration.
