Moldovan, Russian officials tackle negotiations on Transnistrian settlement

Chisinau, 10 March /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Victor Osipov today met Russian Ambassador-at-large for Transnistrian problem settlement Sergey Gubarev, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.
The sides discussed the present situation and prospects for negotiations. In this context, the deputy prime minister reiterated the new government's intention to give a good impetus to all formats, meant to facilitate the conflict settlement and contribute to solving problems the current situation generated for the residents from the two banks of the Dniester.
In the context, Osipov said that the first working meeting of political representatives from Chisinau and Tiraspol would be held soon. He highlighted the need to give up the counterproductive actions and to direct the effort of the participants in the process towards issues of major interest for people, economic agents and local communities.
Ambassador Gubarev said he backed such an approach and voiced hope that the latter would create a proper working atmosphere to continue the negotiations productively.
