Moldovan, French officials broach Association Agreement

Chisinau, 11 March /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman today met French MP, member of Foreign Affairs Commission, parliamentary rapporteur for ratification of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement Thierry Mariani, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry's communication and media relations service has reported.

Gherman welcomed the recent ratification of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement by the French Senate, expressing confidence that it would be ratified by the National Assembly as soon as possible.

Also, the Moldovan official thanked for the support in organising the tenth meeting of the Group for the European Action of Moldova, due in Brussels on 16 March. This is a joint initiative of France and Romania, a mechanism which proved to be efficient in promoting interests and visibility of Moldova on the European agenda.

At the same time, Gherman reiterated the Moldovan authorities' commitment to implement the Moldova-EU Association Agreement, with first results in this respect due to be recorded at the Riga Summit.

For his part, Thierry Mariani reconfirmed full support of France for Moldova's European agenda and implementation of reforms.
