Chisinau, 14 March /MOLDPRES/ -The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) praised the results recorded by the Moldovan law-enforcement institutions in implementing the goals of the Partnership Planning and Review Process (PARP), assumed by Moldova. Defence Minister Viorel Cibotaru and Director of Force Planning, NATO Defence Policy and Planning Directorate Frank Boland addressed the results gained by Moldova within PARP on 13 February.

Frank Boland referred to the participation of the Moldovan National Army within different international peacekeeping missions and emphasised the training and performance of Moldovan officers and sub-officers within the multinational contingents.

Frank Boland underlined the measures undertaken by the Defence Ministry in order to recondition the military equipment of the National Army, develop capacities and train the staff.

For his part, Viorel Cibotaru specified that, for the Defence Ministry, it was important to know both the progress and drawbacks recorded when implementing the assumed goals.

PARP is a methodology to plan defence, worked out by NATO for partners, based on the defence planning system, at present used by all western countries. PARP was taken over and is implementing in such neutral states as Sweden, Austria and Finland.

Moldova joined PARP in 1997.
