We managed to undertake additional step in making more active Transnistrian conflict settlement process, Moldovan PM says

Chisinau, 14 March /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici met Transnistrian leader Evgeny Shevchuk in Chisinau today, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

Gaburici described the meeting as constructive. „We managed to undertake an additional step in making more active the Transnistrian conflict settlement process”.

Following the meeting, the officials signed the additional protocol on prolonging the mechanism on resuming movement of freight trains via the Transnistrian region till the end of 2016. The sides also agreed to complete the works on dismantling the cable railway between Rezina and Ribnita towns.

The two officials also approached more current issues on the dialogue agenda between Chisinau and Tiraspol, such as ensuring free movement between the two banks of Dniester; situation in the security zone; Dubasari district farmers’ access to farmlands; functioning of the Transnistria-based Moldova-run schools; aspects regarding telecommunications; making more active the five-plus-two talks.

The mentioned issues, as well as others are to be discussed during a meeting of heads of Moldovan and Transnistrian sectorial working groups on 20 March.

Chiril Gaburici reiterated Moldova’s interest in passing to a constructive and active dialogue, which would allow recording progress and improving living standards of people of the two banks of Dniester.
