Moldovan MP attends Euronest Parliamentary Assembly meeting

Chisinau, 16 March /MOLDPRES/ - MP Dumitru Diacov participates in the fourth session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly. The meeting takes place in Yerevan, Armenia, on 16-18 March, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
Lawmakers from the Eastern Partnership countries and European Parliament will tackle a string of resolutions related to joint projects on road, railway and air transport, the potential and new cooperation commitments in energy efficiency and renewable resources within the Eastern Partnership, as well as to involving in a stronger partnership through the European Neighbourhood Instrument in 2014-2020.
The MPs will also exchange opinions on the Eastern Partnership Summit, due in Riga, and European Neighbourhood Policy. A debate on justice will also be organised during the meeting, with the sides unveiling the progress of reforms in this area and the impact of EU-financed programmes, on strengthening the justice sector in the Eastern Partnership countries. At the same time, a member of the Ukrainian delegation, Euronest Parliamentary Assembly Co-Chair Borys Tarasyuk will present a resolution on the Russian military aggression in Ukraine.
According to the meeting’s agenda, lawmakers will meet civil society representatives, attend meetings of the committees and political groups today, on the first day of the session. Also today, the Eastern Partnership Integration Index will also be unveiled, which shows the headway of the European integration process of the 5 countries - Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, with more areas analysed: strengthening democracy (electoral system, human rights, independent justice system, fighting corruption, transparency of decision-making process etc.); market economy and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement; political dialogue; participation of civil society, and others.
European Parliament Vice-President Ryszard Czarnecki, Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, Armenian Parliament Speaker Galust Sahakyan, as well as representatives of the Regional Conference of Local Authorities from Eastern Partnership countries and the Civil Society Forum will also attend the meeting of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly.
The Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, established in 2011, is the parliamentary dimension of the Eastern Partnership and a platform for dialogue between MEPs and eastern partners on issues related to the enforcement of political, social and economic reforms.
