Moldovan deputy premier meets Council of Europe representative

Chisinau, 18 March /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Victor Osipov met Head of Division of Cooperation Programmes, Directorate General of Democracy and Political Affairs of the Council of Europe (CE), Anna Capello-Brillat, on 17 March, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.
The officials addressed the cooperation between Moldova and the Council of Europe. The sides paid special attention to the CE Programme “Confidence Building Measures across the Dniester.” The sides emphasised especially the results of the implemented projects, as well as the initiatives for the next period.
The focus of the discussions represented education-related topics. They highlighted the need to provide conditions to pupils and students of the two banks of Dniester, in order to acquire qualitative studies at European standards. This will allow them continuing education in the European Union area, as well as participating in European education mobility projects.
The sides underlined that European Council’s representatives had paid visits to penitentiaries of the two banks of Dniester, in order to analyse the detention conditions, quality of medical services provided to convicts, as well as problems the latter faced.
Victor Osipov thanked for the support the Council of Europe provided to the confidence building measures across the Dniester and underlined the need to foster cooperation between Moldova and CE.
