Chisinau, 18 March /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici met President of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) Henri Malosse in Brussels today, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The officials reviewed the actions undertaken in order to implement the Moldova-EU Association Agreement and Free Trade Area.
Gaburici informed Malosse about the carrying out of the National Action Plan on implementation of the Association Agreement, with the first report presented to the European Union in January 2015. Chiril Gaburici voiced confidence that the Civil Society Platform would boost the efforts to carry out commitments assumed by Moldova within the Association Agreement and establish the Free Trade Area with EU. „We hope the platform to become a relevant source of information and a stimulus to gain the expected results,” Gaburici said.
Chiril Gaburici proposed that the first meeting of the Moldova-European Union Civil Society Platform be organised in next summer. „I reiterate our interest to also involve the Transnistrian civil society in the modernisation process,” Gaburici specified.
For his part, Henri Malosse voiced wish to contribute to democratic transformations in Moldova and the EESC’s willingness to have a closer cooperation with Moldova for the benefit of citizens.
The abovementioned committee is a consultative structure, which ensures better cooperation between the Brussels authorities and civil society.
