Moldovan wines presented at specialised international exhibition in Germany

Chisinau, 19 March /MOLDPRES/ - Twenty-seven Moldovan wine and cognac producers participated, for the first time ever, in one of the most important exhibitions of wines in the EU, ProWein, staged in Dusseldorf, Germany, on 15-17 March.
At a news conference today, Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Ion Sula said that, thanks to the support of the USAID CEED II programme, Moldova was able to exhibition Moldovan wines at such an event the first time ever.
National Office of Vine and Wine (ONVV) Director Dumitru Munteanu added that Moldovan producers attending the exhibition set contacts with importers from all over the world.
For her part, USAID CEED II Deputy Director Diana Lazar said that "the presence of Moldovan wines at the exhibition was visible and proved that Moldova can be a reliable trading partner."
The ProWein specialised exhibition brought together more than 5,000 exhibitors from 50 countries this year. Moldovan producers exhibited their drinks at a joint stand with an area of 150 square meters, under the country’s wine brand titled "Moldovan wine. A Living Legend".
In 2014, Moldova exported over 140 million litres of wine, half of which to the EU market.
