Moldovan parliament speaker meets Russian envoy

Chisinau, 19 March /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu met Russian Ambassador to Moldova Farit Mukhametshin today, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The officials addressed the inter-parliamentary cooperation ties between the parliaments of the two states. Farit Mukhametshin invited Candu to a working meeting with Chairwoman of the Russian Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko. The event will take place at the next session of the Inter-parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States, due in Sankt-Petersburg, on 16 – 17 April.
The sides spoke out for boosting the inter-parliamentary dialogue and highlighted that, following the meeting of the two speakers, the active cooperation at the level of the Moldovan-Russian inter-parliamentary commission might be resumed, for the benefit of the citizens of both countries. At the same time, the officials underlined the importance to foster the work of the parliamentary friendship groups and direct contacts between the commissions.
Andrian Candu and Farit Mukhametshin also approached preparations for the events dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the end of the World War II.
