Moldovan, U.S. officials broach cooperation, reforms, support

Chisinau, 20 March /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Daniela Cujba today met Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs Eric Rubin, on a visit to Moldova, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication services has reported.

The officials praised the unprecedented boosting and deepening of the Moldovan-American ties, especially following the launch of the Moldova-U.S. Strategic Dialogue in 2014. Daniela Cujba thanked for the USA’s increased attention provided to Moldova and for the valuable assistance provided over the past 22 years. “We further count on USA’s support in carrying out democratic transformations and implementing the Moldova-EU Association Agreement,” Cujba said.

For his part, Eric Rubin highlighted that the USA would further provide needed support and assistance, in order to enforce the programme of reforms and modernisation of Moldova. The official reiterated the support message conveyed by U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken during his visit to Moldova in early March.

The sides spoke out for enhancing the economic ties between the two countries, increasing U.S. investments into the Moldovan economy, as well as for launching joint cooperation projects in the energy sector. The officials also approached developments in terms of the Transnistrian conflict and situation in the region.
