Moldovan deputy premier meets US secretary of state deputy assistant

Chisinau, 20 March /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister Victor Osipov today met U.S. Secretary of State Deputy Assistant Eric Rubin, who is also the representative of the United States in the five-plus-two negotiations, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.
The officials discussed the current situation in the Transnistrian conflict settlement and aspects of the Chisinau-Tiraspol dialogue. In the context of recent meetings at the level of political representatives in the negotiation process, as well as between the Moldovan prime minister and Transnistrian leader, the sides stressed that the dialogue between the officials had a acquired a positive dynamic, with the concerned signal due to be switched to experts of working groups.
In this respect, Victor Osipov said: "As you know, a meeting of political representatives will be held today, attended by all heads of the working groups. The purpose of such meetings is to boost their activity, establish the main objectives and instructions they are to follow. The population on both banks of Dniester needs solutions to the problems they face, and the purpose of the working groups is to identify technical solutions to remedy them. "
Eric Rubin said the U.S. would continue to support Moldova’s European integration and reintegration, by observing its sovereignty and territorial integrity. For his part, the deputy prime minister expressed gratitude for the backing of the United States in promoting reforms and democratic values in Moldova.
