Chisinau, 20 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Joint Control Commission (JCC) approved a string of reports of the Joint Military Commandment at an ordinary meeting on 19 March, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.
The focus of the meeting was the free movement in the Security Zone. The commission agreed that the delegations make an appropriate assessment of the evolution of the current situation and present proposals on final decisions for this issues, on which a consensus of principle was reached.
At the same time, the Transnistrian delegation tried to deviate the talks from the issue of denying access of military observers, which is part of the ensuring free movement field. It is worth mentioning that one of the main tasks of the military observers within the peacekeeping mechanism is to record incidents in the Security Zone. By their actions, the Transnistrian representatives ignored the decisions previously approved by the Commission, as well as the consolidated position of the other JCC components.
Moreover, the Russian delegation’s recommendation was ignored, which proposed to ensure trips on the spot of military observers, in order to record incidents, upon the request of one of the four peacekeepers’ superior military heads. The Transnistrian delegation ignored the urge on this topic at the level of co-chairs, representatives of Ukraine and OSCE Mission, meant to overcome the blockage created just by the Transnistrian representatives.
Because of the non-constructive attitude of the Transnistrian delegation, the Russian co-chair postponed the talks for the next meeting.
