Chisinau, 25 March /MOLDPRES/ - The representatives of the World Bank Mission, who are on a visit to Chisinau, at a meeting with Deputy Economics Minister Stephane Bride, said that in order to obtain "support from development partners, the Moldovan authorities should develop and present a clear concept on the issue of the development of the electricity market. "This concept must be based "on arguments and concrete calculations for each stand," noted World Bank experts.

The World Bank mission is led by Country Manager Alexander Kremer and technical team leader Shinya Nishimura. The sides discussed the issue of the World Bank assistance to Moldova in streamlining and modernising the national energy system.

"A significant role in supporting the activities of central and local authorities in Moldova in achieving the priorities of the energy sector development lies with development partners, through directly financed technical or investment assistance programmes or through direct budget support," said Stephane Bride.

The economics minister praised the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to offer Moldova a loan of 40.5 million dollars for the investment project to streamline the centralised heat supply system in Chisinau. Stephane Bride noted that national authorities had already taken concrete steps in that direction, including by reorganising the centralised heat supply system and would be willing to sign the agreement on the implementation project, immediately after the completion of the legal expertise.
