Germany to further back Moldova's efforts in security, defence sectors

Chisinau, 26 March /MOLDPRES/ - Defence Minister Viorel Cibotaru met German Ambassador to Moldova Ulrike Maria Knotz on 25 March. The officials broached the Moldovan-German ties in the security and defence areas, as well as prospects to enhance the dialogue on these issues.
Ulrike Maria Knotz reiterated Germany’s support for Moldova, which had boosted its participation in peacekeeping missions under international mandate over the last time.
Viorel Cibotaru thanked the German official for the support provided to the National Army in the process of reform and modernisation, as well as for the opportunities of linguistic education and professional training of Moldovan servicemen within different multinational exercises, such as the ones on the Hohenfels and Grafenwoehr shooting grounds, as well as for donations of technology and medical equipment.
Viorel Cibotaru and Ulrike Maria Knotz spoke out for continuing cooperation between the two states, by implementing joint projects in various sectors, including the military one.
The Moldovan-German ties in the military area have at the basis an agreement on military cooperation signed in 2003.
