Moldova signs financing agreement in agriculture

Chisinau, 26 March /MOLDPRES/- The 64 million euros, due to be provided by the European Commission to Moldova within the – ENPARD programme - Support to Agriculture and Rural Development, could be accessed by all economic agents from the agriculture sector. Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici and Director DG Enlargement European Commission Gerhard Schumann-Hitzler signed the concerned financing agreement in Chisinau today.
"The access to the ENPARD funds means money for increasing investments in modernising the agricultural sector, developing education system in villages, better sales for our farmers both on the domestic and foreign market," Gaburici said.
The prime minister stressed that the signing of the agreement confirmed the EU's support for Moldova and "proves that Moldova is a competitive state in the agricultural sector".
For his part, Schumann-Hitzler pointed out that "signing of the document represents a significant support for the agricultural sector and a very important action to revive the country's economy."
The financing agreement's period of implementation is 84 months starting the date of its entrance into force. The money will be provided in three installments.
The ENPARD Programme was launched in 2011.
