European Council President reiterates support for Moldova

Chisinau, 26 March /MOLDPRES/- President of the European Council Donald Tusk today had a phone conversation with the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), Vlad Filat. The European official reiterated support for Moldova.
According to a press release by the PLDM's press service, Filat informed the European official about the latest domestic political evolutions, negotiations on the Transnistrian problem and situation in the Autonomous Territorial Unit Gagauz-Yeri, southern Moldova, in the context of results of the current elections of the local bashkan (governor).
Also, the two officials discussed boosting implementation of reforms, Moldova's European agenda and the country's expectations from the Riga Eastern Partnership Summit due in next May.
Filat also had a phone conversation with the leader of the European People's Party (EPP), Joseph Daul, on 25 March. The official reaffirmed the EPP's support for PLDM. "The two leaders agreed that the absolute priority should be ensuring the cohesion of the country and continuing reforms on European integration," a communique by PLDM says.
