Chisinau, 27 March /MOLDPRES/ - The National Farmers' Federation and the UNIAGROPROTECT Republican Union, the AGROINFORM and MOLDOVA-FRUCT federations today organised protest actions of farmers in more Moldovan districts. Over 3,500 farmers went out to protests by taking out about 2,000 technical units on roads, according to a press release by the above-mentioned associations.
The farmers demanded that the authorities take urgent measures to settle problems faced by the agro-industrial branch. The participants in the action claimed the increase of the agriculture subsidisation fund, keeping the eight-per cent quota of the value-added tax (VAT) and identifying possibilities to decrease the fuel price for enterprises from agriculture.
"If the state authorities show irresponsibility and negligence towards the claims of the farmers, and do not start settling the problems faced by this sector, the protests will be resumed by blocking the national roads," the protesters' declaration says.
