Moldovan premier meets Hungarian envoy

Chisinau, 31 March /MOLDPRES/ - „Hungary is an important partner for Moldova,” Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici said at a today's meeting with Hungarian Ambassador to Moldova Mátyás Szilágy, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The two officials tackled the Moldovan-Hungarian ties, stressing that the Moldova-Hungary dialogue was active, multidimensional and constructive, focused on issues of major interest for both sides.
Gaburici highlighted that the Moldovan government was open for cooperation and was confident that the friendship ties and mutual support between Moldova and Hungary were able to essentially contribute to achieve priority goals of Moldova. „The European integration is a real chance to modernise Moldova and improve the people's living standards. In this respect, we highly appreciate the efforts of Hungary, which is an important partner of Moldova, to back Moldova’s European agenda,” Gaburici said.
For his part, Mátyás Szilágyi underlined that Hungary spoke out for enhancing cooperation with Moldova in more sectors. Szilágyi said that Moldova was a good example for other states too, including as regards tolerance towards inter-community ties. „Hungary considers that Moldova deserves to be supported to get a clear European prospect. The ties between Moldova and Hungary are very good, based on common historic traditions. We want to foster our cooperation in various areas,” the official said. Mátyás Szilágyi also voiced Hungary’s willingness to back Moldova in such sectors as: agriculture, food safety, environmental and water management projects.
The sides spoke out for boosting the economic relations, as well as for expanding the cultural ties between Moldova and Hungary. In this respect, the officials stressed the need to organise more fairs, exhibitions and other events, with participation of investors from the two countries.
The Moldovan-Hungarian bilateral ties are regulated by 60 treaties, signed in various fields.
