Former Romanian president to visit Moldova

Chisinau, 1 April /MOLDPRES/ - The former president of Romania, Traian Basescu, will pay a private visit to Moldova on 2-3 April, at an invitation by President Nicolae Timofti.

According to the presidency's press service, Nicolae Timofti will award Traian Basescu the Stefan cel Mare order. The distinction was given "as a sign of deep gratitude for his special contribution to promoting stability, security and democracy in the region and for his support in the process of training staff in the fields of defence, security and public order."

On 3 April, Traian Basescu and Nicolae Timofti will travel to Soroca to visit the Brancoveni Holy Martyrs wooden church in Maramures style and the local fortress.
