Moldovan Party of Communists opposes liquidation of Savings Bank

Chisinau, 1 April /MOLDPRES/ - The Party of Communists (PCRM) will not back the liquidation of the Savings Bank (Banca de Economii). PCRM leader Vladimir Voronin made statements to this effect at a news conference today.

Voronin said PCRM would insist that the provisions of decision, approved by the parliament following the hearing of the report of the commission investigating the situation in the financial and banking system, be implemented within the set terms.

Voronin added that PCRM “is not part of the ruling coalition and does not intend to hush up thefts from the state budget”. “We will not hide anything related to acts of corruption of the present government. PCRM voted for the formation of the leadership of the parliament and government only in order to unblock the deep political crisis and ensure Moldova’s stability,” Voronin said.

Voronin added that PCRM would not request state positions. At the same time, he said that “the opposition should monitor the government, and to do this, it must have appropriate instruments”.
