Chisinau, 1 April /MOLDPRES/- The government today approved a draft law amending the procedure of signing, approving and ratifying international treaties. Under the document, the financial agreements on providing grants to Moldova will no longer need ratification by parliament, but will be approved only by the cabinet, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman said the process of concluding international treaties, especially, those related to foreign partners offering non-refundable external assistance to Moldova, lasted about 7 months.
“Often, there are situations when the government, under present domestic rules and procedures, cannot ensure the enforcement of treaties on the concerned term, which sometimes leads to impossibility to get grants on easy terms for Moldova”, Gherman noted.
Thus, the draft law sees that the medium term of entry into force of an agreement should be about 1.5 months. The document was worked out by the Foreign and European Integration Ministry, jointly with the Finance Ministry and State Chancellery.
