Chisinau, 2 April /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova and Turkey will foster the cooperation ties in such sectors as economy, trade, law, infrastructure, education and health. Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman and her Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavasoglu signed a protocol to this end in Chisinau today.

At a news conference, the head of the Moldovan diplomacy, Natalia Gherman, said that Turkey was a very important political and economic partner for Moldova.

"We want to strengthen this bilateral partnership with Turkey and boost the multidimensional dialogue towards a commitment that will serve the interests of both states. We also hope to sign a declaration on a strategic partnership in the near future, that will represent a new stage in our bilateral relations," Gherman noted.

For his part, Mevlut Cavsoglu said the Free Trade Agreement, signed between Moldova and Turkey in 2014, would soon be ratified by the Ankara parliament.

"We hope that, once this agreement signed, Moldovan-Turkish trade will reach one billion dollars," said the foreign minister of Turkey.

Mevlut Cavsoglu is on a one-day visit to Chisinau. He will meet President Nicolae Timofti and Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici.

The diplomatic relations between Moldova and Turkey were established in 1992. According to the National Statistics Bureau, the trade between the two countries amounted to about 370 million dollars in 2014.
