MEP urges Moldovan authorities to continue democratic transformations

Chisinau, 8 April /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman today met the head of the European Parliament Delegation to the Parliamentary Committee of EU-Moldova Association, MEP Andi Cristea, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
The officials discussed the main activities to be implemented in the context of adjusting the national legislation with the European Union's one. Currently, over 10 per cent of Moldova’s legislation has been already harmonised with the European one, in accordance with the Association Agreement. Minister Natalia Gherman informed about the results achieved during the first months of the implementation of the Association Agreement, including the Free Trade Area, reiterating that the current government’s priority was the efficient implementation of the accord.
As for the preparations for the Summit due in Riga on 21-22 May, the Moldovan diplomat stressed the importance of strengthening relations with the Eastern Partnership countries, especially through an approach based on differentiation and more for more principles.
For his part, MEP Andi Cristea said that Moldova was a leader in implementing the Association Agreement, and urged the authorities to press ahead with the democratic transformations, which would further contribute to Moldova's rapprochement with the European Union.
