Chisinau, 8 April /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament will approve an action plan on adjusting the national legislation to the EU acquis and will nominate institutions in charge of implementing the harmonised legislation. Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu has made a statement to this effect at a meeting with Co-chair of the Moldova-EU Association Parliamentary Committee, MEP Andi Cristea, and Committee’s Deputy Chair, MEP Michal Boni, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The officials addressed the political and economic developments in Moldova, implementation of the Association Agenda and parliament’s priorities.
Candu requested the European Parliament’s support for completing the process of ratification of the Association Agreement by all EU member states.
Andrian Candu reconfirmed the Moldovan authorities’ full commitment to implement the reforms agenda in the European integration process. ”The implementation of the Association Agreement and Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement represents the single efficient solution to modernise Moldova. We have to do our homework, to implement reforms as soon as possible, so that Moldova becomes a member of the European Union,” Candu said. At the same time, Andrian Candu informed that the parliament was examining the possibility to identify mechanisms of interaction between the authorities at national level, in order to implement the Association Agreement.
Andrian Candu highlighted that, among the priorities of the parliament’s spring session, there were: adoption of the State Budget Law and budgetary and fiscal policy, Law on prosecution, amendments to the Audiovisual Code. Candu said the draft on amendment of the Audiovisual Code, recently proposed by a group of MPs, would be withdrawn, with another legislative initiative due to be registered. ”We want quality of laws and transparency in their adoption. The new draft, the goal of which will be to stop foreign media propaganda, will be included on the parliament’s agenda after it is discussed with the civil society and consulted by development partners,” Candu said.
The MEPs encouraged the Moldovan authorities to continue implementing assumed reforms and achieve concrete results. ”We are correct advocates of Moldova in the European Parliament and will take all needed steps, in order to ease Moldova’s European path, especially at parliamentary level,” Andi Cristea said.
The European officials pay an information visit to Moldova on 7-9 April.
