MEP says Moldova most advanced state within Eastern Partnership

Chisinau, 8 April /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici met the head of the European Parliament Delegation to the Parliamentary Committee EU-Moldova Association, MEP Andi Cristea. The officials discussed the main reforms envisaged in the Association Agreement Moldova - European Union, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

Gaburici Chiril said the National Action Plan for the implementation of Moldova-EU Association Agreement lied at the basis of the new Moldovan government's action programme. "Only by finalising the reforms started will we manage to get high living standards for citizens, become attractive for investment, modernise Moldova," he stressed.

Another topic of discussion was the Eastern Partnership Summit, due in Riga on 21-22 May. Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici said that this event would mirror a new stage in terms of quality in the country's European integration. In the Latvian capital, Moldova will report to development partners on achievements got in promoting EU-oriented reforms.

Referring to efforts to implement reforms, the prime minister said the government took steps to improve the business environment, attract investments, and expand export market for Moldovan products. Another up-to-date task of the government is the need to approximate national legal and institutional framework to European standards.

For his part, MEP Andi Cristea said that Brussels was interested in deepening reforms and that Moldova was the most advanced state of the Eastern Partnership in terms of connection with the EU. At the same time, the official said that the Moldovan authorities should continue democratic transformations to ensure a prosperous future for Moldova.

Attending the meeting was also Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the European Parliament, MEP Michal Boni.
