Moldovan victims of 7 April 2009 riots to receive allowances

Chisinau, 8 April /MOLDPRES/ - The government, at a meeting on 8 April, approved a cabinet decision, thereby allocating financial means needed to recover the damage caused to the people who suffered in the wake of the 7 April 2009 riots, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.

This year, 21 persons will benefit from such allowances. These people were selected by a special governmental commission, set up to consider the submitted applications. Under the document, 88,000 lei was earmarked from the government's reserve fund to provide one-off allowances.

Thus, four persons who suffered serious injuries, and who have physical and psychical suffering at present too, will enjoy one-off allowances worth 7,000 lei each. The other people will receive allowances worth 3,000-5,000 lei, depending on the suffered injuries and wounds.

Over 200 people have benefitted from allowances over the last three years.
