Chisinau, 16 April /MOLDPRES/ - The MPs and employees of the Gagauz Popular Assembly (local parliament) might benefit from study visits and training in national parliaments of the EU member states, in order to develop institutional and functional capacities.
Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu and Gagauz lawmakers have discussed the working out of a joint action plan on ensuring autonomy and strengthening capacities of the Gagauz Popular Assembly at a meeting, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
„This is the first meeting with the colleagues of the Gagauz Popular Assembly and I am happy that we have managed to discuss more important topics, but the good intentions of our colleagues to find solutions and compromise gladdened me the most,” Andrian Candu said.
Candu was confident that the training of the working group on examining Gagauzia’s special statute, like the one that worked in the previous parliament, would provide the needed platform both for boosting communication between Chisinau and Comrat, and for ensuring a friendly political and legal environment to turn to good account the autonomy’s statute.
„I hope that, in the near future, we will manage to find solutions ,both at the level of the Moldovan parliament and Popular Assembly, that would allow the working group or joint commissions starting to work to adjust the legislation as soon as possible and, in general, to solve present problems,” Andrian Candu said. He reiterating the parliament’s openness and his personal support for developing cooperation with Gagauz MPs, in the interest of all Moldovan citizens.
