Chisinau, 16 April /MOLDPRES/ - Increasing and protecting domestic investments, improving the quality of the business environment in Moldova and the active involvement of local associative environment in the decision-making process at the central level were the main topics of meetings held by Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu at the Territorial Information Office of the Parliament from Comrat (Gagauz administrative centre), the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
On visit to the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia (Gagauz Yeri), the speaker received in audience the economics faculty dean of the Comrat State University, Constantin Tausanji, as well as business environment and civil society representatives.
The parliament speaker expressed his support for organising more meetings between central authorities’ representatives and local decision-makers in the territory. In this context, Andrian Candu informed that, along with his Moldovan colleagues, he would consider possibility of organising a string of topic-related events outside Chisinau, to discuss local issues and ways the regional associative environment could get more actively involved in the Moldova’s social and political life.
"Local nongovernmental organisations have a good knowledge of the real situation in the territory, and the Moldovan parliament is interested to actively cooperate with them, so that the passed laws meet the expectations of citizens. Moreover, I propose to organise regional conferences dedicated to strengthening partnerships with the local civil society, similar to the one we organised in Chisinau in early April”, said Andrian Candu.
The first joint action could be organised at the parliament to mark the one-year anniversary of the ratification of the Association Agreement between Moldova and the European Union.
At meetings in Comrat, Andrian Candu also tackled the problems and expectations of farmers and agricultural producers, including access to state subsidies, agricultural loans and return on investments, improving legislation and fiscal mechanisms in agriculture. Other topics addressed regarded the optimising of education policies on national minorities.
The parliament speaker visited the Comrat-based music school, where about 200 talented young people study at four departments.
