Twinning project on civil service modernisation starts in Moldova

Chisinau, 16 April /MOLDPRES/ - A number of 200 civil servants from Moldova will get acquainted with European Union practices on modernising the civil service within an EU-funded twinning project that started in Chisinau today.
The project will run for 2 years and provides for the arrival of 30 experts from Lithuania, who will provide expertise in adjusting the regulatory framework on public service modernisation, developing a network of experts in human resources sector and capacity building of higher level civil servants.
At the project launch event, Deputy Secretary General of the Government Roman Cazan said the reformation and modernisation of the public service were conditioned by the domestic needs of the Moldova, as well as by the European policies to which it the country aspired.
EU Delegation to Moldova Head of Section Aneil Singh said that a high quality civil service was essential for each public administration.
A number of 14 twinning projects have been launched in Moldova starting from 2008 so far. The new project has a budget of 1.2 million euros from the European Union.
