Moldovan-Russian inter-parliamentary dialogue to be resumed

Chisinau, 17 April /MOLDPRES/ - Moldovan Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu and Chairman of the Russian State Duma Sergey Naryshkin addressed the speeding up of Moldovan-Russian inter-parliamentary cooperation and resuming of constructive dialogue, including at economic level, at a meeting on 16 April, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
Candu assured that Moldova was ready to discuss with Russia all sensitive aspects related to the creation of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area with the European Union.
„The Association Agreement, including the Free Trade accord, does not counter against the trade rules with the members of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Besides, Russia may benefit from all possibilities that open for us in the European Union,” Andrian Candu said. He also specified that „ the Association Agreement is not against anybody and does not impede the development of cooperation ties with Moldova’s traditional partners”.
The officials also tackled issues referring to the Gagauz region and the Transnistrian one. Sergey Naryshkin welcomed Candu’s initiative to boost the dialogue both with the Gagauz autonomy and Transnistrian region, describing Andrian Candu’s actions as „an open and modern way of work”.
„The time is ripe to pass from talks to actions,” Candu said. He also announced about the creation of a new working group or joint commissions on adjusting legislation of the Gagauz autonomy and the national one shortly.
At the same time, the two officials agreed to resume the dialogue between the Moldovan parliament and Russian Duma.
