Moldova to deepen commercial partnership with Turkey

Chisinau, 23 April /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici met leaders of the largest industrial conglomerate of Turkey, Koc Holding, in Istanbul on 22 April evening. At the meeting, he referred to the importance of attracting foreign investments in Moldova's economy, especially in agriculture, food industry, banking and energy sectors, including identification of alternative energy sources, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

The top management of the Koc Holding industrial conglomerate showed willingness and openness to expand relations, noting that the commercial partnership with Moldova had a promising potential. In this regard, the management of the holding company said it would study the Moldovan market demand and supply, in order to establish the directions of interest for the Koc Holding conglomerate.

Chiril Gaburici expressed confidence that, with the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement between Moldova and Turkey, trade and investment between the two countries would be fostered.

The prime minister also praised the Turkish companies' involvement in social projects and on modernisation of the country. Presently, Turkey is one of Moldova’s major trading partners, ranking fifth on the list of trading partners of the country.

The Koc Holding conglomerate was founded in 1926 and includes companies from the energy, financial, auto, food, tourism, constructions and appliances sectors. The holding is among the top of 350 companies worldwide, holding leading positions both nationally and internationally.

Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici is paying a two-day visit to Istanbul, to attend a high-level meeting of the Peace Summit, chaired by Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.
