New business incubator opened in southern Moldovan town

Chisinau, 23 April /MOLDPRES/ - The boosting of business support infrastructure represents one of the priorities of the government’s action programme and Business Development Strategy till 2020. Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Stéphane Bridé made statements to this effect at the opening of a business incubator in southern Cimislia town today, The unit was built with the financial support of the European Union, the Economics Ministry’s press service has reported.
Stéphane Bridé said that the creation of the national business incubators network under the aegis of the Organisation for Small and Medium Enterprises Sector Development and its integration into the European network showed, in practice, that the government decision to build business incubators in cooperation with European Union partners and local public authorities was correct and efficient from economic viewpoint. „The incubator from Cimislia also serves as an example, which according to analyses, will host about 20 enterprises, will create over 60 new jobs, will increase the payments to the budget, etc. In other words, the business incubator from Cimislia will be a catalyst of for the short-term development of the district and the region, on the whole, for a long term,” Bridé said.
Stéphane Bridé also stressed that the government would continue implementing similar projects in other regions of Moldova too, as the business incubators directly contributed to direct the private intellectual and financial potential towards the development of economy and fighting unemployment in the region, and served as an impetus for business environment development.
Attending the event, EU Delegation Representative Wicher Slaghter specified that those about 900 incubators present in the EU states create about 400,000 new jobs annually, help develop the regional economy, settlements and cities. "The European Union will further be by the side of the Moldovan authorities in their efforts to develop the business environment in rural settlements, to create new jobs for people all over Moldova," Slaghter said.
Nine business incubators - Stefan-Voda, Dubasari, Leova, Ceadir-Lunga, Rezina, Nisporeni, Singerei, Soroca and Cimislia - have been opened in Moldova so far. To build and develop the business incubator network, 54.6 million lei was earmarked from the state budget in 2011- 2014, with another 15 million lei planned for 2015.
