Moldovan foreign minister attends UN resident coordinators meeting

Chisinau, 24 April /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman participated, as special guest, in the annual meeting of UN Resident Coordinators in Istanbul, Turkey, on 23 April. Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Helen Clark chaired the event, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
Natalia Gherman presented the priorities for Moldova’s sustainable development in the context of the UN Post-2015 Development Agenda, as well as the visions on the cooperation with UNDP and other UN agencies, in order to implement Moldova’s reform agenda.
As for the European integration of Moldova, Gherman underlined the goals to implement the Association Agreement and Free Trade Area with EU, especially to support and modernise the energy and agro-industrial sectors. Natalia Gherman also highlighted the importance to improve the social protection system and raise awareness of people as to institutional development objectives.
Gherman also met UNDP Administrator Helen Clark. The UN official praised Moldova’s active involvement in consultations on United Nations post-2015 agenda, especially in the context of high-level international meeting organised in Chisinau in past February, on institutional capacities and human potential development.
The officials agreed to cooperate, in order to promote and implement projects aimed at priorities on sustainable development of Moldova, which are convergent with the carrying out of the Action Plan on Implementation of the Association Agreement with EU, meant to improve the level of welfare of Moldovans.
