Moldovan, American officials broach assistance, support

Chisinau, 24 April /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur today met Coordinator for U.S. Assistance to Europe and Eurasia Alina Romanowski, on her first visit to Moldova after her appointment to office, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.

Andrei Galbur thanked for the financial assistance provided by the USA to implement modernisation projects in Moldova. “The assistance provided by American partners is extremely valuable for implementing the needed reforms, in the context of achieving the European integration strategic goal,” Galbur said.

The officials addressed the boosting of cooperation in such areas as: justice reform, fighting corruption, attracting investments, energy infrastructure development, roads reconstruction, agro-food industry modernisation, private sector development, etc.

For her part, Alina Romanowski said that the Moldova-USA Strategic Dialogue was an important platform for organising assistance and continuing efforts to reform the key sectors. Romanowski reiterated the United States’ support for democratic transformations and European integration of Moldova.

NB: In 2012-2014, the American Government provided Moldova with financial assistance worth about 77 million dollars.
