Chisinau, 24 April /MOLDPRES/- The ceiling of financial means for political parties, social and political organisations, and electoral blocs at the local elections, due on 14 June, is of 59 million lei. The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) approved a draft decision on the matter today.
CEC head Iurie Cecan said that 59 million lei had been calculated by multiplying the 0.5-per cent coefficient (20.86 lei) of the average salary on the economy (4,172 lei) with the number of electors registered on electoral lists.
At the same time, the ceiling for independent candidates will be calculated by multiplying the 20.86-lei coefficient with the number of voters from the constituency where they put up their candidacies.
If the ceiling is surpassed, the contender runs the risk of being drawn out of the electoral race. CEC planned expenses amounting to 98 million lei for the local elections due this year.
