PM says Tricolor symbol of Moldova worthy to be worn with honour, pride

Chisinau, 27 April /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici and the cabinet members today participated in events dedicated to the State Flag Day, held at the Defence Ministry, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.
In his speech, Gaburici congratulated all those present at the event on the occasion of Tricolor Day. He said that the State Flag was a symbol that united us, made us think in the same way, inspired in our souls patriotism and fight for peace, for Moldova. "Our flag must unite us even more, in the context of the current geopolitical situation. I want us to be worthy of this symbol of our country and to bear it with honor and pride", he noted.
Defence Minister Viorel Cibotaru said that 25 years far from the day when tricolor in blue, yellow and red colors had become Moldova's State Flag, the National Army brought honor to the tricolor - a symbol of national unity, independence and state sovereignty. "The tricolor was worn with pride by Moldovan servicemen in the peacekeeping missions in Iraq, Liberia, Sudan, Ivory Coast, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, and now in Ukraine", he said.
The state flag was worn by four servicemen to hoisting mast. The premier and defence minister kissed canvas of the flag with Moldova's national anthem.
In the context of events, Gaburici, accompanied by the cabinet members, attended the solemn meeting of parliament, titled "Tricolour Marking 25th Anniversary,".
Following an initiative by the Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici, the Moldovan government today organises more public events. The Presidential Orchestra will perform on the Great National Assembly Square, and military orchestras will present concert programmes in public gardens. Today, the State Flag was hoisted on all public institutions' buildings.
Tricolor was designated Moldova's official flag by the first parliament on 27 April 1990. The State Flag's Day was set up on 23 April 2010.
