Moldovan Liberal Democrat leader meets European Council President

Chisinau, 28 April /MOLDPRES/- President of European Council Donald Tusk today had a meeting with the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), Vlad Filat. Tusk pointed out that Moldova was to strengthen its leading position within the Eastern Partnership.
According to a press release by PLDM, Donald Tusk said that Moldova had to deepen the reforms in the justice sector, stabilise the banking system and ensure a friendly investment climate.
The efforts to strengthen the European integration and to modernise Moldova will be further backed by the EU", he noted.
The talks of the two officials were focused on the social, political and economic situation in Moldova, implementation of provisions of the Association Agreement with the EU, boosting the democratic reforms, fulfillment of commitments assumed towards development partners and strengthening the state's institutional capacities.
At the end of the meeting, Filat thanked Tusk for the EU's support for carrying out reforms and modernising Moldova.
Donald Tusk is on a two-day visit to Chisinau. He is to have meetings with President Nicolae Timofti, Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu and Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici.
