Chisinau, 28 April /MOLDPRES/ - European Council President Donald Tusk said that Moldova needed an advancement of reforms, so that its citizens feel a change for the better. The official made statements to this effect at a today's press conference held jointly with President Nicolae Timofti.

According to Tusk, the main areas in need of reform are fighting corruption in the justice sector and the banking system.

“Moldova is currently facing difficulties for domestic reasons, as well as because of the unstable situation in the region. We will help Moldova build relations with foreign partners and establish trust at home”, said Tusk.

For his part, President Nicolae Timofti said that EU's support was further essential to implement projects on infrastructure, modernisation of public institutions, developing small and medium enterprises, etc.

European Council President Donald Tusk is on a two-day visit to Chisinau. Besides Nicolae Timofti, he will also meet Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu and Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici.
