Estonian, Moldovan officials broach bilateral ties

Chisinau, 29 April /MOLDPRES/- Moldova represents one of Estonia's priorities in terms of  cooperation in development fields. Estonia Foreign Minister Keit Pentus-Rosimannus made a statement to this effect at a today joint news conference held with Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman.

Keit Pentus-Rosimannus said that, in early 2015, Estonia had contributed with 50,000 dollars to joint projects with Moldova, with the most important ones in the electronic services sector.

"One of the important projects on which we focus is Moldova's integration into EU and implementation of the Association Agreement's provisions. We fully back this path and the reforms that need to be implemented for society's development and improvement of citizens' living," the Estonian official said.

For her part, Gherman said that Estonia and Moldova shared common goals and hopes as regards the country's European agenda.

"Cooperation between Moldova and Estonia is multidimensional. Estonia is the country with which we have signed most agreements and partnerships between cities and municipalities", the official said.

Keit Pentus-Rosimannus is on a one-day visit to Moldova. The official will also have meetings with President Nicolae Timofti, Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici and Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Stephane Bride.

The diplomatic relations between Moldova and Estonia were set on 10 November 1992. Gherman said that, in 2015, Estonia's financial assistance offered to Moldova would reach 950,000 dollars.
