PM says cyber security strategic priority of Moldova

Chisinau, 29 April /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici today morning participated in the opening of the most important event in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) - Moldova ICT Summit 2015, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.
In his greeting speech, the prime minister said the ICT sector was on full rise in Moldova, with a contribution of about eight per cent to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP). He also said the volume of sales was continuously increasing on the electronic communications market.
"Moldova has proved that it has potential and capacity to advance in this area; the actions of the Information Technology and Communications Ministry (MTIC); and the government on the whole, with a view of developing the infrastructure and telecommunications services market serve as an example in this respect. The IT industry has a sure prospect for development in our country. We do not have natural resources, instead, we have an important resource - the people of Moldova," Chiril gaburici stressed.
The prime minister welcomed a MTIC initiative to work out and propose for discussions the vision on ensuring the cyber security of Moldova. Also, Gaburici reiterated the need that the state institutions strengthen efforts to elaborate a programme on cyber security, due to provide for the safety of processing, circulation, stocking, preserving and accessibility of data in the virtual space.
"This document must ensure an open, safe and secured space, meet the European practices regarding the security of the electronic communications and computer systems network, counteract the cyber criminality, ensure the creation of national capacities of cyber defence. Thus, Moldova will become more and more attractive for this business," the prime minister said.
Chiril Gaburici gave assurances that the Moldovan government would further pay increased attention to developing this segment of the national economy.
