Chisinau, 29 April /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu participated in the 15th issue of the international conference titled „Moldova ICT Summit 2015”. The Information Technology and Communications Ministry, in partnership with the National Association of ICT (Information and Communications Technology) Private Companies, organised the event. This issue is focused on fostering cybernetic security, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
Andrian Candu referred to the role of information technologies in optimizing the work of Moldovan public institutions, including improving the quality and accessibility to public services provided to citizens.
„The information technologies may essentially contribute to a quicker development of Moldova. We have been discussing about the e-governing and its importance very much over the past years. I, as a citizen of Moldova, want very much to be able to use my personal computer in order to apply to get a passport or a licence,” Candu said. He also emphasised the importance of developing the information technology at the state institutions.
Candu said the parliament intended to introduce the e-parliament concept in the near future, which would facilitate organising domestic working processes via the information technology and communications. Andrian Candu asked the government, including Information Technology and Communications Ministry, to promote the national strategy on development of information society, namely Digital Moldova 2020, and to submit to the parliament initiatives on the creation of IT parks in Moldova.
„Moldova showed that it has potential and we are happy that our young people work in more international companies of the ICT sector, but it is important to create conditions for them to work at home. We should get more ambitious, so that in a year or two, telecommunications contribute 10 per cent to the formation of the Gross Domestic Product, against four per cent as at present. I personally was obstinate in doing this and I hope that we will have the e-parliament concept in a year,” Candu said.
Attending the event also were Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici, ministers, representatives of governmental agencies, diplomatic corps accredited to Moldova and civil society, as well as experts in ICT and representatives of academic environment and business sector.
