Chisinau, 29 April /MOLDPRES/ - The government today approved the action plan on restructuring of technical vocational education institutions network. Education Minister Maia Sandu said that this plan was based on the cartography results, which included 97 institutions in the area, with over 42,000 pupils. The assessment was made based on more criteria and included the quality of human resources and education process, technical and material basis and way the institutions cooperate with the economic environment, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
Thus, the results show that out of those 97 mentioned institutions, 24 are qualified as good, 49 – medium, and another 24 – poor. It was found that the curricula are outdated and too theorized, the infrastructure is used insufficiently and the number of employees per pupil exceeds the european average by three-fold.
„The sector of the technical vocational education represents a very important sector in the European states, as it prepares professionals necessary for the economy and functioning of a state. Thus, modernising the technical vocational education system becomes absolutely necessary in order to determine changes expected by entire society,” Maia Sandu said.
The mentioned plan also provides the creation of 10 centres of excellence, which will become reference institutions in the vocational and technical area. At the same time, according to the provisions of the Education Code, the craft schools will be reorganised and will become vocational schools, and pupils will study for a good qualification for two years at least.
Other goals of the plan include: increasing quality of system human resources and modernising the technical and material basis. At the same time, the focus will be put on fostering ties with the labour market, so that the institutions to train specialists upon employers’ requirements.
The document is to be implemented till 2020 and its goal is to modernise the technical vocational education system and to adjust it to the real needs of economy.
