Chisinau, 30 April /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici met Efes Vitanta Managing Director Gokce Yanasmayan. The officials discussed the company's intention to launch a new investment project in Moldova. The project will create modernisation opportunities in the agricultural sector by applying new technologies of processing apples, increasing exports of Moldovan products, as well as creating new jobs, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
"We are interested to develop a business that will create new jobs, including in rural areas in Moldova. We believe that apples grown in these areas are of high quality and there is promising potential for launching a product that will be appreciated both on the local and the international markets. I am talking about an apple drink, new to the local market, called cider, which is becoming increasingly popular in different countries," said the businessman. According to company estimates, the cider produced in Moldova could be exported to over 46 countries. Another objective of the project is to transform Moldova into a regional supplier of raw material for the production of this drink.
The prime minister said the government backed projects providing for the attraction of investment into the economy. "For us, it is important to provide new opportunities of creating jobs, to increase exports and promote domestic products on international markets. At the same time, turning into account the potential of processing apples is an up-to-date problem for Moldova," said Chiril Gaburici.
The prime minister assured that the competent institutions of the government would provide the needed support to implement the aforementioned project, according to the legislation in force.
The officials also discussed the latest achievements of the company, including on a pilot project on growing barley for beer, launched with support of the Agriculture Ministry in 2012. Gokce Yanasmayan stressed that this was only a beginning and that new projects for attracting investments and creating jobs in the country would come next.
