Moldovan foreign minister meets NATO official

Chisinau, 30 April /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman met North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Assistant Secretary General for Emerging Security Challenges Sorin Ducaru, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
The officials discussed the implementation of the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) Republic of Moldova – NATO for 2014-2016; in particular, they referred to cooperation in combating new threats to security. In this context, the sides stressed the importance of boosting cooperation in cyber defence, agreed upon with the allies as one of the four major priorities of IPAP. At the same time, Minister Natalia Gherman said that Moldova welcomed NATO’s expertise and assistance in developing a comprehensive approach to the process of national cyber defence.
For his part, the NATO official described the partnership with Moldova as a valuable and active one, noting that the Alliance would continue organising consultations on security issues and practical ways of cooperation between the Chisinau-based authorities and the NATO.
