Chisinau, 30 April /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici today paid a working visit to the Interior Ministry, where its employees presented the institution's activity report for 2014 and the first months of 2015. The sides focused mainly on the crime rate, border security, activity of the rescuers and firefighters, as well as compliance with the Interior Ministry’s strategic development programme for 2014-2016, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

The prime minister said that one of the ministry’s priorities must be increasing public trust in this institution.

"We have recently marked the first anniversary of the visa regime liberalisation. A special merit in this respect belongs to the Interior Ministry. This is appreciated by our foreign partners and it is important to maintain this path. We have a not at all easy mission - to carry out reforms for the safety and welfare of every citizen of Moldova", said Chiril Gaburici.

The prime minister referred to the efficiency of the work of the police, rescuers and firefighters to reduce response time. To this effect, the head of the Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Department, Mihai Harabagiu, mentioned the need to set up the single emergency telephone number - 112. "This service is 90 per cent ready and I believe that this is enough to launch it. In this way, we will shorten the response time", said Mihai Harabagiu.

In the end, the prime minister said he would support reforms initiated by the Interior Ministry, as well as further equipment of the services with modern machinery and tools. "In return, I ask you for maximum responsibility and I will admit no excuse in case of loss of projects, lowering of the level of public trust and increase in crime rate," concluded Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici.
