Moldovan, Lithuanian, Swedish foreign ministers approach ties, EU integration

Chisinau, 4 May /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman today met Foreign Ministers of Lithuania and Sweden, Linas Linkevičius and Margot Wallström, respectively, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry's communication and media relations service has reported.

The three ministers appreciated the excellent level of bilateral relations and opted for turning to good accounts the economic opportunities, especially by drawing investments and extending the sales market for the Moldovan products.

Gherman thanked the two governments for the assistance provided for Moldova's development during the last years; the country benefited from assistance in such sectors as: justice, domestic affairs, development of market economy, consolidation of democracy, environment etc.

"The today's talks represent a step to deepening the bilateral ties and a sign of support and solidarity for Moldova's European integration", she said.

For their part, the Lithuanian and Swedish ministers reiterated backing for Moldova's European path, urging the authorities to continue efforts in implementing reforms, especially in the sectors of  justice, banking and fighting corruption.

"The Moldovan government's key words should be sustainability and irreversibility of reforms, and Lithuania will provide every necessary assistance to this end," the Lithuanian official said.

Margot Wallström pointed out that the European integration was a force which could change the society and assured Moldova of Sweden's every support.
