Chisinau, 4 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici today chaired a working meeting, during which the sides examined the situation of the national civil aviation. The discussion focused on issues related to the implementation of Moldova’s commitments of implementing European directives in the field of civil aeronautics and ensuring a consistent activity at the Chisinau International Airport. The sides also discussed the current state of aligning the national legislation on the regulation of aeronautics to EU directives, as well as complying with international commitments in this field, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

The prime minister said that the government received complaints that would indicate irregularities in the system. Thus, Chiril Gaburici demanded explanations from representatives of the Transport and Road Infrastructure Ministry, Civil Aviation Authority, National Anti-Corruption Centre, National Agency for Protection of Competition and the Information and Security Service with regard to the aforementioned issues.

Chiril Gaburici went through a number of tasks including the immediate enforcement of the provisions of the Association Agreement, including with regard to the establishment of the Free Trade Area and the Common Aviation Area between Moldova and the European Union. To this effect, the Transport and Road Infrastructure Ministry and Civil Aviation Authority must submit, within 10 days, the entire national draft legislative package, which must be adjusted to European directives in line with the commitments undertaken.

According to the premier’s directions, the National Agency for Protection of Competition, Economics Ministry and other competent bodies will take measures to ensure an unbiased environment for activity and fair competition for economic agents operating at the Chisinau International Airport. The prime minister also asked relevant bodies to ensure aviation security at European standards, in strict compliance with all legal provisions on the territory of the Chisinau International Airport, which is a strategic objective of national importance.
