US high official, Moldovan foreign minister tackle reforms, business environment

Chisinau, 7 May /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman today met US Department of Commerce Deputy Secretary Bruce Andrews, who is on a two-day visit to Moldova, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
The officials agreed to intensify strategic the dialogue between Moldova and the US, which is an important consultancy platform, as well as to streamline all working groups on sectoral cooperation. To this effect, the sides welcomed the decision to organise the meeting of the Joint Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation in Chisinau on 9-10 July.
In order to intensify the economic relations between Moldova and the USA, the interlocutors discussed the need to conclude the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) and the Agreement for the Avoidance of Double Taxation between the two countries, which will open new opportunities for cooperation in trade, economic and investment sectors.
"We are very determined to create the necessary environment for establishing new business partnerships between our countries," said Minister Natalia Gherman, reiterating the Moldovan authorities’ interest in organising bilateral economic missions, training sessions on US market regulations for Moldovan producers and others.
For his part, Deputy Secretary for Commerce Bruce Andrews reiterated that the US would continue to assist Moldova in implementing reforms and developing the business environment.
