Chisinau hosts Moldovan-Romanian consular consultations

Chisinau, 8 May /MOLDPRES/ - Moldovan-Romanian consular consultations between heads of consular services of the Foreign Ministries of the two states were held in Chisinau on 7. Moldova’s delegation was led by the head of Consular Affairs Department, Violeta Agrici, and the Romanian one - by Director General of Consular Department Bogdan Stanescu, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
The sides considered the basic aspects of cooperation between the two states in the consular area, as well as the implementation of the provisions of the Moldova-Romania Treaty on legal assistance in civil and criminal issues, as well as protection of rights and interests of citizens from the two states.
At the same time, the sides identified aspects related to opportunity to regulate, under a unilateral decision of Moldova, possibility for EU citizens to enter Moldova on the basis of their national identity cards.
The officials also tackled the issue of information exchange on sides’ experience in consular process modernisation. In this respect, the officials highlighted the importance to improve the consular services provided to Moldovan and Romanian citizens.
The officials agreed to continue bilateral cooperation, in order to identify the best solutions to strengthen the consular activity.
